Ready for furnishings!

The hard surfaces (floors, paint, lighting, kitchen) are in place and now it's time for the furniture! This is such an exciting time for the Chapter as they are counting down the days to move into the new place. It will be so wonderful for the members to have a place to gather, have meetings, meet between classes for lunch, have Sisterhood and Alumnae events, and display our treasures-including the Golden Lion!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of the wonderful alums who have donated to the Chapter Suite fund! If you are interested in donating please let me know and I will get you the information.
Also, TTU Homecoming is November 13th and it will also be the grand opening for the Suite. We hope you can all make it to the Alumnae Reception and Suite opening! Look for an evite in a couple of months:)

Pics to come

So, over a month ago I promised pictures, but we have been on the road almost non-stop; my apologies. They will be up very soon:) Also, several ladies have asked about making donations to the suite fund. Donations are greatly appreciated to help the Chapter offset the cost that will be incurred from decorating, buying supplies, refinishing heirloom pieces, and all other things associated with moving to a brand new space. It is the hope of the Chapter that the new suite will be a place where they can enjoy just as many events as other members did with the previous suite. Also, it will be a place that alumna can be proud to visit during Homecoming, Founders' Day and many other gatherings. If you would like to make a donation please contact tnadpi@yahoo.com and I can give you more details so that your donation will be tax deductible by donating to a specific fund at TN Tech. If you prefer to donate directly to the Chapter you may mail donations to:
ADPi c/o Chapter Suite Donations, TTU Box 5235, Cookeville, TN 38505.
Thanks for your help!

Tour of Suites

On March 9th Chapter Advisors have been invited to take a tour of the suites with the latest construction additions. The Chapter members will be on Spring Break, but hopefully some of them will have a chance to tour soon. We will be taking lots of pictures, so check back later next week for updated pictures!

Meeting with District Team Members

During the weekend of February 12th the Chapter attended the annual District Leadership Conference in Knoxville, TN. The Advisors, Chapter President, and Finance Vice President were fortunate enough to meet with the District Housing Resource Director and District Finance Director to discuss our plans. Luckily, they were on board with our budget, design ideas, and other preparations for the suite. There is still much work to do before the big move including making final design decisions and ordering furniture, as well as, having some of the heirloom pieces restored and getting new homes for some of the furniture that will not move with the Chapter:) Many of you will remember with fondness the Waverly violets, but alas, they will not be incorporated into the new decor. We will soon be posting pictures of the design choices once we have the final word of approval from the powers that be.

Meeting with the Interior Designer

The Chapter Advisors, Chapter President, and Chapter Property Manager recently met with the Interior Designer for Tech to look at design choices for flooring, tiling, cabinets, counter tops and paints.  We were also able to look at lighting samples and the electrical layout.  It is exciting to be at this stage of the process.  As soon as prices are confirmed by the general contractor we will be able to proceed with other design choices, such as furniture and artwork.  Currently, the Chapter plans to restore much of the heirloom furniture that has been passed down for the past 40 years.  There are also plans to get some great new upholstered pieces and accessories to compliment the room.  When the confirmation is received from the General Contractor and our budget is approved by Grand Council we will post more of the design choices.  Look for more soon.

Chapter Suite Details

The new Chapter Suites are under construction. Last Spring Panhellenic Presidents drew for room choices. We picked the third floor, large room. The building has 3 floors with 3 suites per second and third floor, in order to make room for adding other sororities in the future. The second and third floors have one rectangular shaped suite and two square suites. The first floor will have food service areas and possibly a recreation area for all students.
The Suite contains a large open meeting space, mini kitchen, storage closet, and two restrooms. The mini kitchen will be equipped with a refrigerator, sink, cabinets, and microwave. Due to fire regulations there will be no stove in the new suite for those of you used to the previous room set-up. There is no living space within the suite or Panhellenic portion of the building. All resident rooms are in two separate wings of the building.
Decoration choices and budget planning are underway, so check back soon for more information.
